Match Report
Sheffield made their third trip to Hillsborough in the last three seasons to play Unibond Premier Division Worksop Town in the Senior Cup Final.

Asa Ingall missed the game through due to a family funeral, whilst Martin Kearney had work commitments.

It was Town who started brighter with defender Dawson and striker White guilty of missing good headed chances and winger Cockerill smashing the ball against Jamie Holmshaw's post, all in the first 20 minutes.

Club started to get a hold on the game and Copnell struck two shots just wide of the goal.

Around half an hour in Sheffield took the lead. Chris Dolby played a nice one two off Vill Powell andthen put in a delightful chip to the back post where defender Gav Smith jumped highest to head past Ratdliffe in the Tigers goal.

Club could have made it two nil shortly after but Copnells drive went just wide.

In the second half you would have thought that playing in their 69th game of the season Sheffield would have tired, however, this side has super human strength and though playing its 20th match in 7 weeks in what has been a mad run in, Club defended well, were tigerish and smart in midfield and the two strikers worked their socks off up top as Worksop tried in vain to break Sheffield down.

Darren Holmes replaced an injured Chris Dolby on 49 minutes.

Club made it two nil on 68 minutes when a Pate Davey shot squirmed its way through to Gavin Smith, who from 8 yards out turned and fired the ball home to give a 2 0 lead.

Worksop never gave up and White drilled a shot narrowly wide and Cockerill ought to have done better with alate opportunity.

After 5 minutes of injury time the game eneded with a fine victory for Sheffield and skipper for the evening Gav Smith lifted the cup and sent the large Club following into ecstacy in the Hillsborough stand.

Club players and staff can be proud of this achievement and for picking up yet more silverware in a season that has been one that will remain in the memory for a long time. Promotion was only denied in the lottery of penalty  kicks at Nantwich after reaching the Play Off Final. A Senior Cup win and runs in almost all other Cups, as well as representing the City and non league football against the likes of an England XI, Ajax and Inter Milan will live long in the memory of Manager, Coaching staff, Players Officials and Supporters of this unique football Club
