Match Report
The Under 19's progressed to a semi final tie with Shirebrook Town after this difficult encounter at Sandy Lane. In a tight contest Sheffield never dominated but probably deserved the victory with the better quality possession and play. Sheffield made the brighter start and looked more dangerous in the early stages and it was no surprise when Callum Paine opened the scoring on 8 minutes. Getting good possession on the edge of the area he executed a superb turn and scored with a low shot giving the keeper no chance. The goal galvanised the home side and Janni Lipka had to work hard to put Wood off his stride so that the strikers shot went wide. Paine had another opportunity when Joel Purkiss found him with a great pass and it took a super save from Callum Smith in the Worksop goal to deny the Sheffield striker his second goal. Paine and Purkiss were doing really well and they were ably supported by Gascoigne who was dominating the midfield. It was Liam Smith's turn to show his ability in goal when he turned around a good shot from the home striker but it was Sheffield who were playing the neater passing game and a super move ivolving Purkiss and Gascoigne just failed to set up Paine in the box with the defence completely foiled. The Sheffield striker was getting some great service and on 35 minutes received a ball over the top which he hit on the volley only to be denied by another superb save. The next chance came when Cribley's shot was parried but McKenzie following up couldn't steer the ball home. McKenzie then got into action at the other end, clearing a goal bound effort following a good break by the home side.

Gascoigne supplied Cribley with a good ball early in the second half but the wingers cross shot was well wide. Cribley was fouled in a dangerous area and Smith beat out the free kick, the rebound came to Purkiss who headed over. Worksop got their best chance of an equaliser when Burridge's fierce shot hit the bottom of the post following a set play. Gascoigne was getting forward more often and should have been awarded a penalty when he was bundled over in the area after a good run. He then shot just wide having received the ball from a long throw. Cribley hit the side netting following a good move with the goal at his mercy.

Alex Morris replace Paine after 84 minutes and made an immediate impact with a shot just wide following a good ball from Daniel Beech. In the dying minutes Morris combined well with Cribley and Purkiss and with the Worksop defence at sixes and sevens scored with a good finish to secure the victory for Sheffield.

Team: Smith, Simpson, Jerrison (Wood), Lipka, Gelsthorpe, Jones, Gascoigne, McKenzie (Beech), Purkiss, Paine (Morris), Cribley, Askew, Stratford.
