Match Report
Sheffield welcomed Stocksbridge Park Steels FC back to the Bright Finance Stadium for the Play Off Semi Final match in the Unibond League Division One South.

Club had Paul Smith, Asa Ingall, Stewart Copnell and Jon Boulter all back in the starting line up after missing Saturdays match through injuries, though Tom Jones missed the game through suspension.

Sheffield started rather nervy, although chances for both sides were at a premium early on.

Club broke the deadlock on 20 minutes when in form striker Vill Powell sneaked a shot past visiting keeper Siddall and 7 minutes later Stewart Copnell smashed home a Paul Smith cross to make it two.

Steels had two great chances to pull a goal back in the last minute of the half, but missed both, much to Sheffield’s relief.

Club maintained the pressure in the second period and withstood the Steels attacks when they came. Jamie Holmshaw distinguished himself with two great saves from Lovell and Ward, before Vill Powell broke away to finish well past Siddall to give Club a three goal lead.

Steels pulled a goal back on 66 minutes when Rob Ward was adjudged to have fouled namesake Mark in the box and Riley stuck away the resulting penalty.

Copnell made the game safe on 80 minutes with the goal of the game. Substitute Pete Davey won a tackle in his own half and fed Vill Powell. Powell’s ball upfield found Matt Lowton streaking down the line and his pin point cross was finished well by Copnell to make a final score line of 4-1.

Sheffield will now play Nantwich Town in the Play off Final at Nantwich on Saturday 3rd May
