Sheffield FC welcome Odds Ballklubb into the Club of Pioneers
Yesterday saw Chairman Rich and Club Secretary Bill Towning from the Sheffield FC team visit Norway for a journey back to the roots of football. The trip, which was centered around the Club of Pioneers- a living, breathing network of the oldest clubs from each country- saw The World’s First welcome Odds Ballklubb as the oldest team in Norway with a membership.
First the Sheffield FC delegation watched a 2-0 win from the Eliteserien League as Odd took on Stromsgodset at home. At half-time the celebrations started as Bill Towning led the official inaugration in front of the players, fans, management and media! Bill spoke about the history of the Club of Pioneers, the history of #theworldsfirst and Odd’s importance for football in Norway.
The whole weekend was a great success with Chairman Rich stating: "It was both a privilege and an honour to attend the Odds Ballklubb fixture vs Stromsgodset, to speak to the Odd family after and during the game, and, of course to welcome Odd to the Club of Pioneers by celebrating the origins of the game in Norway! We look forward to our future relationship with the pioneers and celebrating history again!".
