First Team vs. Loughborough Dynamo (1 : 2)

Tuesday, 21 August, 2012 - 19:45
Evo-Stik League First Division South

Club welcomed Loughborough Dynamo for the first home league game of the season and after a poor home display our visitors travelled back down the M1 with all three points, writes CHRIS SHORTLAND. Manager Curtis Woodhouse not surprisingly named an unchanged eleven from Saturdays win at Lincoln Utd, with new signing Jared Stephens on the subs bench.

After a quiet start Club started to apply pressure and after 10 mins a defensive clearance fell to skipper Anton Foster, who struck a fine volley from 25 yards to force an acrobatic save from Loughborough keeper Laurie Pearson. Shortly after a neat passing move down the left resulted in Warren Burrell firing just wide of the target. Dynamo began to gain more possession and a foothold in the game and were rewarded with a goal after 31 mins when a quick breakaway forced a defensive error to allow Louis HAMILTON to fire home.

Dynamo's two quick wingers Shawn Richards and Hamilton were now constant threats and causing the home defence problems, particularly on the break as Club struggled to find any tempo and rhythm.

No changes at half time for either team and another defensive error from Club early in the second half resulted in Dynamo's Matt Langham heading wide from the edge of the six yard box. After 56mins a neat move involving Charlie Weir and Chris Adam created Club's best chance so far when Ben Turners effort was fired straight at the keeper. More Club pressure followed, with Charlie Weir heading over from a Steve Woolley cross.

Another a quick breakaway on 72 mins from Dynamo down the left resulted in a great save from Club keeper Nicky Draper, but Dom BRENNON followed up to score from close range. Despite plenty of possession Club were struggling to get a foothold in the game and were fortunate on 78 mins when Dynamo hit Club on the break again and Hamilton hit the post .

Club scored a late consolation goal when Warren BURRELL stole in at the back post from a Steve Woolley corner.
