First Team vs. Clipstone (0 : 1)

Wednesday, 27 July, 2016 - 19:30
Friendly

Sheffield FC fell to their first pre-season defeat at Clipstone on Wednesday night, with a 57th minute strike from ex-Clubbie Brandon Cardwell the difference, in a game with very few chances.

The game was competitive enough, however the closest Sheffield came to testing Steve Hernandez in the Clippo goal was in the 6th minute, as Charlie Dawes tried a shot from distance that skimmed the outside of the upright.

There were no punches pulled between the two sides, and the referee had to do the rare job in pre-season riendlies, brandishing yellow cards to Sheffied's Damien Magee and Clipstone's Ellis Wall - both for over enthusiastic challenges.

It was settled however just before the hour mark, as a corner from Wall on the right wing cleared the stramash in the box, allowing CARDWELL to rise unoposed to nod powerfully beyond Jamie Green.

Sheffield FC: Green, Walters, Knowles, Finlaw, Hutchinson, Magee, Greenfield, Goodwin, Lambert, Towey, Dawes. Subs: Dawson, Longstaff, Wraith, Barlow, Jessop, Butt, Siddall.
