First Team vs. Carlton Town (0 : 1)

Saturday, 18 March, 2017 - 15:00
Evo-Stik League First Division South

Sheffield FC's goal-less run continued on Saturday afternoon, as Carlton Town ran out 1-0 winners in a dour game at the Home of Football.

The first half was an even affair, with a Joel Purkiss shot at the keeper the first chance on target, easily gathered by Jack Steggles.

The best chance came to James Gregory, after good interplay from Alec Denton and Joel Purkiss, again the safe hands of Steggles once again came to the rescue.

In the second period Carlton were the more adventurous, with Will Mellors-Blair coming closest, after hooking over a first time chance.

The goal came on 56 minutes for the away side, with a Dan Gordon throw being trapped and struck home on the turn, Mellors-Blair giving Chris Butt no chance.

Sheffield woke up somewhat, but apart from a double save from Steggles that thwarted efforts from Mohammed Tijani and Alec Denton, Sheffield couldn't breach the Millers' defence.
