First Team vs. Brighouse Town (1 : 2)

Saturday, 8 December, 2018 - 15:00
Evo-Stik League East Division

It was a case of ex-Clubbies returning to haunt their old stamping grounds at the Coach and Horses, as Vill Powell's Brighouse Town came to end the home side's unbeaten run.

Sheffield started the game brightly, and after a series of corners took the lead in the third minute, when James Gregory delivered a pinpoint ball onto the head of Ash Grayson to make it 1-0 to the hosts.

Town leveled just four minutes later, as ex-Club players Zeph Thomas and Mohammed Tijani combined for the latter to tuck inside the near post to make it 1-1.

It was 2-1 to the visitors on 31 minutes, as Adam Field slipped the ball through a sleepy home defence, with ex-Sheffield striker Aaron Martin finishing with a fine strike off the inside of the post.

The second half was a messy stop-start game affected by the conditions, with the visitors doing what was needed to see out the result.
