First Team vs. AFC Mansfield (2 : 0)
Evo-Stik League East Division
Sheffield continued their impressive form in the Evo-Stik East, as they ran out 2-0 winners at home to AFC Mansfield.
It was a frantic goal-less first half, with the visitors starting brightly as Harry Wakefield shot over, and Philip Buxton hooked over top on the turn.
Sheffield’s chances fell primarily to striker Mitchell Dunne, who had three chances which were either uncharacteristically off-target or giving keeper Tom Crosby and easy save.
The game was won in the space of the two minutes after the break, as a ball in from the right by Ash Grayson was met by the head of skipper Adam Chapman, who powered his header home.
Seconds after it was two, as James Gregory ran a fully fifty yards, before curling the ball into the corner from the edge of the area.
Mansfield never really looked like troubling Club, with the best effort coming when Brad Wells was set free on goal, only to be bravely snuffed out by keeper Adam Kelsey.
