Match Report
Both sides looked good going forward in the early stages of the exciting game played in the best spirit on a fast, slick surface at Olivers Mount. Tom Roebuck had the first effort for the hosts, a good shot from range which Liam Smith beat out; the ball fell to Lewis Eshelby who shot across goal and wide. Sheffield then got a corner, Joe Jerrison rose to meet the ball and his well directed header was blocked on the line. Danny Beech and Danny McKenzie were playing some good stuff on the left hand side and on 15 minutes they forced a free kick which led to a nice interchange between McKenzie and Joel Purkiss who scored with a good strike from about 25 yards out. Ted Cribley was getting in to the game on the right and he put Purkiss through on goal with a great ball but Purkiss' touch deserted him and Handsworth came away with it. Handsworth were also having their share of attacking football and Eshelby was a onstant threat doen their right but was being well defended. Just towards the end of the half Purkiss let Callum Pine through on goal with a great dummy move but the striker was forced too wide.

The second have started a somewhat scrappy affair with neither side managing to retain possession, but Handsworth had a ouple of corners which Sheffield defended well. Beech made another good contributuion with a nicely floated free kick which just evaded the attacking header and the goal. Janni Lipka had to make a very good block tackle just on the hour mark to prevent an equalising goal and Sheffield had a spell of not looking after the ball. When they did go forward they looked dangerous and McKenzie forced a corner and he and Beech played a clever one - two and the cross was met by Jerrison who bundled the ball into the net only for the referee to disallow the effort for a foul. Shortly after this McKenzie got a good ball away to Purkiss who spotted Cribley in an inside right position and he rifled the ball home with a quality strike to make it 2 - 0 to Sheffield. This became 3 - 0 moments later when Cribley was fouled by Griffiths; from the resulting free kick Paine was fouled in the area and McKenzie stepped up and slotted the penalty home. This killed the game off for the home side and Sheffield had a couple more chances through McKenzie and Beech before the final whistle came.
